Welcome

I am a textile artist living and working in North Devon. Inspired by human behaviour and traditional stories I create cloth charactersfabric illustrations and textile treasures.

My quirky characters are sure to bring a smile to your face as they appeal to the child in most of us. They are modern day mythogical hybrids, half human, half animal and half knitted, half stitched. Some say they are reminiscent of childhood storybook characters, others say it is their uncanny similarities to people they know and love - whatever their 'X' factor is, you are guaranteed to want to give one a home.

In comparison, my wistful fabric illustrations are painstakingly cut from fine cottons, silks and felt, each element is carefully hand appliquéd in place and then embellished with hand embroidery.  They are contemporary designs reminiscent of 50s and 60s graphics and delicate shadow puppetry stills. Made from discarded textiles, saturated with history, each image oozes a narrative; and the stories they could tell!
