After completing a degree in Textile Art at the Norwich School of Art and Design in 2000, I moved to London and began working for a theatrical drapery company. Four years later I realised that I missed the sea and open space too much and following a period of travel returned to my home - North Devon.

In 2005 I began to pick up the threads of the work I had dropped following the completion of my degree. Having made a few knitted characters for my nephews I was inspired to put together a collection of slightly more 'street' hybrids. Since then I have begun work on more subtle and wistful pieces, a collection of comfort fairies and nostalgic fabric illustrations.

Concerned with the amount of waste we produce, and as a natural 'squirrel', my work is made from discarded fabric scraps, yarns and objects. I see these as treasures and aim to breathe new life into them to create something fresh and quirky, yet saturated with history.

My work is hand crafted from a combination of knit, print, hand stitch, fabric manipulation and baking techniques. I like to think of my work as being both organic and home-grown. Although I may be initially inspired by a person, proverb, vintage toy, mythological beast, fairytale character or animal, I do not set out with a design I respond to the materials at my disposal and nurture the final piece into being.
